Asian Honey Glazed Baked Salmon

Sharing is caring!

This might just be the best honey glazed baked salmon you’ll ever try!

This is honestly one of the easiest Asian honey glazed baked salmon recipes out there. I wanted to ensure that it was as I am going to include this in my next cookbook. It’s mildly spiced, sweet, sour and savoury. What more could you want in a baked salmon recipe?

Honey Glazed Baked Salmon

So good! The juices from the sauce soak into the meat. You are going to love this one.

About this baked salmon recipe…

I have always, and I do mean always cooked honey roast salmon on my barbecue. I love the smoky flavour with all those delicious ingredients.

I’m currently writing a cookbook, however, featuring spicy recipes from around the world that you can cook in one pan or pot. So I went to work on this indoor version of one of my favourite recipes for baked salmon.

To be honest, the smoky flavour just isn’t missed as there are so many delicious and aromatic ingredients here that taste so good together.

Is baked salmon difficult to get right?

Not at all! I get asked this question often. Not just about salmon but other seafood.

You just need to watch it so that it doesn’t overcook. So when you read the Asian baked salmon recipe below, be sure to use it as a guide. Your piece of salmon might cook faster than mine as ovens vary as does the thickness of each side of salmon.

Watch it. When the salmon has been baking for about 10 minutes, stick a fork or knife in it. If it flakes away easily, you’ll know it’s almost ready. I aim for flaky and a bit pink in the centre.

How fussy is this Asian baked salmon?

I promise you, this is easy. All you have to do is whisk the sauce ingredients together and pour it all over the salmon.

Then you wrap it up and bake, before charring under the grill (broiler). From start to finish, this recipe will take less than 30 minutes, making it the perfect after work meal.

Can you adjust the spicy heat?

My honey glazed baked salmon is a bit spicy. I like it that way.

You, however are in charge. This is your baked salmon recipe so make it the way you want. You could leave the chillies and dried chilli flakes out if you like or reduce the amount.

How long can you store leftovers in the fridge?

You should be able to store any leftover Asian salmon you might have in the fridge for up to 3 days.

You might like to serve this baked salmon cold from the fried. That’s how I prefer it.

If you want to eat it hot, you can do that too. Place it in your microwave for a couple of minutes until heated through.

You can also reheat the salmon in an oven or air-fryer, preheated to 200C/400F for about 8 minutes but watch it carefully. You only want to heat it through not over cook it!

Can you freeze the any leftovers?

Yes, you can freeze your leftovers if you have any. Freezing cooked salmon is a great way to preserve it for later use and can help prevent food waste.

Here’s how you can freeze cooked salmon properly:

1. Allow the cooked salmon to cool down to room temperature. It’s essential to cool it down completely before freezing to avoid the growth of harmful bacteria.

2. Once cooled, wrap the cooked salmon tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Make sure to wrap it securely to prevent air from getting in, which can cause freezer burn and affect the quality of the salmon.

3. Alternatively, you can place the cooked salmon in an airtight container or freezer bag. If using a freezer bag, remove as much air as possible before sealing it to minimize the risk of freezer burn.

4. Label the wrapped or packaged salmon with the date of freezing. This will help you keep track of how long it has been in the freezer and ensure you use it within a reasonable time frame.

5. Place the wrapped or packaged cooked salmon in the freezer. Try to lay it flat to maximize space and prevent it from getting crushed by other items in the freezer.

6. Cooked salmon can typically be stored in the freezer for up to 2-3 months without significant loss of quality. However, for the best taste and texture, it’s recommended to consume it within this time frame.

7. When you’re ready to use the frozen cooked salmon, remove it from the freezer and let it thaw in the refrigerator overnight. Once thawed, you can reheat the salmon gently in the microwave, oven, or on the stovetop until warmed through, or you can enjoy it cold in salads or sandwiches.

By following these steps, you can freeze cooked salmon effectively while maintaining its flavor and texture for later consumption.
