Dinner at Trilogi in the Crowne Plaza Kochi

trilogi

This place was amazing!

The reason for my recent trip to Kerala was to research recipes for my next cookbook. My wife and I packed a lot into our short two week stay. My friend Chef Jomon Kuriakose who is originally from Kerala and is now Chef de Cuisine at Lalit London told us we had to visit Trilogi, at The Crowne Plaza, Kochi. Luckily, he just happened to be visiting Kochi while we were there and arranged for us to do just that.

We had wanted to stay at The Crowne Plaza, following his recommendation and the fact that some of Kochi’s best and up and coming chefs work there. Unfortunately there was a doctor’s convention there while we were in Kochi and we couldn’t get in. We did get a nice tour of the hotel though and I can assure you that we will be staying there next year when we return. I’ll be sure to blog about my stay with lots of photos when I do. If our meal at Trilogi is anything to go by, staying at the hotel will far exceed all expectations.

Beautiful view of the Kochi Backwaters from The Crowne Plaza.

We visited Trilogi at the end of a long but very fun day. To be honest, both Caroline and I didn’t know how we could possibly eat any more as the day started with an incredible breakfast at Jomon’s friend Shihabudeen’s home before being whisked off for many more must-try food adventures in the city. We ate Kochi that day!

After our tour of the hotel, we went to Trilogi and were joined by Jomon’s long time friend Aneesh Prasad who is the Crowne Meetings Manager at The Crowne Plaza and Hazel from the marketing department. If there was one thing that struck me from the beginning, it was the nice ambience in Trilogi. It was such a nice and relaxed atmosphere.

Jomon asked for a selection of Keralan classics and we were in no way let down. I’m not really sure what each dish was called as the names of the dishes were in Malayalam. I did, however get a list of what we were served that evening and I highly recommend you write them down if you are planning a visit to Trilogy. Just ask for the same, you won’t be disappointed!

String hopper curry sandwich – This was incredible! I think it was the Idiyappam Chemmeen Biriyani

Starter selection at Trilogi

The delicious food kept arriving at our table. So many different and exciting flavours!

Food at Trilogi

This was my kind of meal! Everything was cooked and served to perfection.

Then there were the curries! These were all served more homestyle which I loved. The waiter would bring Keralan rice to the table and serve it before adding a mutton, fish, chicken or vegetable curry. As you can see from my plate below, there were a few curries on it before the mouthwatering chicken curry. I’ve got to get myself back to Kochi soon to learn from Trilogi’s talented chefs. They really put on a show to be remembered.

Dinner at Trilogi

This was such a memorable meal. If you find yourself in Kochi, you’ve got to pay Trilogi a visit.

I have so many great memories of my visit to Trilogi. I would sincerely like to thank Aneesh and Hazel for making it all happen. We had so much great food during our stay in Kerala. When in Kerala, you can’t go wrong with a meal at Trilogi. I am really looking forward to going back.

Disclaimer: Caroline and I were guests of Trilogi. We were not charged for our meal but I was under no obligation to write a favourable review. All opinions are my own.
