You can book your place for my curry cooking classes here or contact us on 01642 782455.
I love holding my curry cooking classes in ‘The Curry Cave’. This is where I test and write recipes for my cookbooks but on scheduled dates, I open it up for my cooking classes. You can also pick up signed cookbook, branded mugs and aprons at an additional low price if you wish. Following are 10 reasons you might like to book your place.
My cooking classes are excellent value for money.
I aim to please! Many of my guests have returned one or even two times. The classes are fast paced but at the same time casual and fun. The £132 price includes a massive, all you can eat lunch which you and other guests prepare in the first session of the class. Then after lunch you will prepare a takeaway for the evening in a special branded, nylon bag with zip closure which can be used many times in future. Menus vary from class to class and yes… Special request are welcome.
Special Diets are Happily Catered for!
Just let us know any special dietary requirements when booking and we will ensure to plan a special menu for you. As I do test recipes often which include nuts like peanuts, this class is not recommended for those with nut allergies.
Both Single and Group Bookings are Great!
Many people who attend my classes come on their own. The classes need to have at least three people in the class to take place, with four people being the ideal number. Come alone and you are certain to meet likeminded people and enjoy cooking with them. The largest group we have had was 8 people.
It went really well but it was a bit crowded. If you are thinking about making a group booking, let us know how many people are in your party and we will make it fun for you. Eight is the maximum though! I like to keep these classes small so that I can spend individual time with each guest.
If you would like a special one on one class or a class for two people only, we will do that too. The price of the four hour class is £396 total.
We currently offer two different classes.
The most popular class so far has been my tandoori/curry class. In this class you will learn about using spices, how to prepare and cook tandoori meats and how to make curry house style naans. You will also learn to make the essential curry house style base sauce and two different curry house curry favourites.
We have also recently started a vegetarian street food class which is my personal favourite because it’s new. In this class you will learn the secret to making delicious chaats, curries and dosas. Many people think that making dosas is a real skill, much too difficult for the home cook. Come to this class and you will leave a excited about using your new dosa skills at home!
Special classes are no problem.
If you have a group of at least three, you can choose what you want to learn in the class. I can of course guide you with ideas. Ideally we would like classes of at least four people so if you are a group of three, we will still try to sell that fourth place but the class will be planned around your menu wishes.
You will receive ongoing recipe support.
I always try to answer all recipe questions and comments on social media. I receive quite a few messages and I think I do answer them all which takes a couple hours of each day. People who have attended my curry classes here in the UK, however and those who attended my cooking classes at Big in France get preferential treatment. I love meeting and cooking with people. I will always put friends I have actually met first!
You can request special dates.
I usually hold my classes on Saturdays. I tried to schedule weekday classes a one group requested this but there was not a lot of interest. That said, I work from home so any day of the week is good with me. If you have a group of three or more, we can schedule a special weekday or Sunday class for you.
You get to cook in a real tandoor oven.
It is a lot of fun cooking in a tandoor. I cook in mine all the time and not just Indian food! Home outdoor tandoors are about the same price as a good gas or charcoal barbecue so you might just go away inspired to get one. All of the recipes you learn in the class can be cooked on a barbecue and are not in any way limited to tandoor cooking.
We are near the beautiful market town of Yarm.
Many of our guests stay locally before and/or after the class. We can recommend places to stay that are within your budget. From inexpensive but nice B&Bs to posh hotels, just let us know what you are looking for and we will point you in the right direction. Yarm is a fun town with lots of pubs and restaurants. It is the perfect place to stay and enjoy all the North East of England has to offer. We are just a two minute drive from Yarm train station if you would like to travel by train and can pick you up and take you back to the station.
