What is sweet lassi?

Sweet lassi is a popular and refreshing Indian beverage made from yogurt (curd), water, and sugar. Other popular ingredients include cardamom, rosewater, or fruits.

It’s a classic summer drink in India that is sweet, creamy and slightly tangy taste.

Key characteristics of sweet lassi include:

Yoghurt: Yoghurt forms the base of sweet lassi. It provides creaminess and a slightly tangy flavour. In India, thick and full-fat yogurt is commonly used for the best texture and taste.

Water and/or ice: Water and ice is added to thin the yoghurt and create a drinkable consistency. The amount of water can be adjusted to your preference for thickness.

Sugar: This lassi is sweetened with sugar, and the amount can be adjusted to suit your taste. Some people prefer it sweeter, while others like a milder sweetness.

Flavourings: To enhance the flavor, sweet lassi may be infused with ingredients like cardamom, rosewater, or saffron. These additions provide a nice aroma and taste.
