Marry Me Chicken Pasta will take no longer than 30 minutes to make.
Marry Me Chicken Pasta tastes so good that you may even prompt a marriage proposal if you make this for that special someone.
You might have heard of Marry Me Chicken and here’s my pasta version of the recipe with an added bit of spicy chilli, although this is always optional. It’s mouth-watering, easy to make and incredibly versatile to tailor to your own taste buds.

What is Marry Me Chicken Pasta?
The origins of Marry Me Chicken is unclear, however, the craze for this recipe started in the United States by home cooks and food bloggers, each making their own adaptation of the dish. This Marry Me Chicken Pasta recipe is my adaptation of the Marry Me Chicken Recipe with added pasta to soak up the creamy goodness.
Italian Tuscan chicken recipes have similarities but it is important to note that there are distinct flavour differences and they are not the same dish. Follow my recipe, keep it the same or add some of your own personality to it and this recipe can be yours to share with loved ones for eternity. See how I added peri peri to my Marry Me Chicken recipe here.
Does this dish have to be served with pasta?
No it doesn't. I have adapted the Marry Me Chicken Recipe so that when the pasta is added, it soaks up the creamy goodness without too much sauce being compromised. However, you can skip the pasta step and serve however you choose. Soaking up the sauce with crusty bread is a must whether or not you are serving it with pasta.
What cut of chicken is best for this dish?
I would recommend that you use skinless and boneless chicken breasts for this Marry Me Chicken Pasta as they pair well with the creamy and rich flavours and cook quickly. You could also use boneless chicken thighs for an extra flavourful option. This recipe is yours to make your own.
Can this Marry Me Chicken Pasta be vegetarian?
Yes absolutely. The irresistible flavours from this Marry Me Chicken Pasta come from the ingredients in the sauce and the chicken compliments this dish as it has mild flavours. You could replace the chicken with a mild cheese like haloumi or add you could add vegetables instead such as cauliflower. Feel free to make this recipe your own.
Can I freeze Marry Me Chicken Pasta?
Yes you can, although for best results, do not mix the pasta in with the sauce until you’re ready to serve up. Dairy products do not freeze well so I recommend that you skip the step of adding the cream and cheese until you’re ready to serve.
Can this be a low calorie meal choice?
Yes the ingredients all Marry Me Chicken recipes have in common are chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, garlic and cheese. A good option to make this a lighter meal choice is to switch out the cream and parmesan in this recipe for a light cream cheese instead.
Pro tips
- Customise to your taste: Marry me chicken is a versatile dish. You can experiment with the ingredients such as the changing the herbs, spices and type of cheese you use. In this marry me chicken recipe I used peri peri seasoning and cream cheese. You could use Italian season and parmesan. You can add more or less garlic if you like and even use lighter ingredients such as low fat cream cheese.
- Save time: Cook the pasta and chop the vegetables while the chicken is cooking. Make sure you keep checking the chicken so that it does not burn and turn the chicken so that it cooks evenly. Timing when you will do each step will save you lots of time in the kitchen, making this dish easy and quick to make.
- Flavour infusion: Enhance the flavour of the Marry Me Chicken Pasta by adding some extra spices to the sauce. I added peri peri seasoning to my Marry Me Chicken recipe. This recipe is incredibly versitile to put your own personality into it. As I mentioned earlier in my blog post, this recipe originates from home cooks and food bloggers. There is no reason why you can't add your own twist to this recipe and make this your signature dish for your loved ones.

Marry Me Chicken Pasta

This is my peri peri version of the famous Marry Me Chicken Pasta. Feel free to add other seasoning to the sauce. You could add Italian herbs instead of peri peri for example. The peri peri version is my favourite though so I hope you give this a try! Enjoy.
Ingredients
- 300g penne pasta
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 500g chicken
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic granules
- 1 tsp onion granules
- 2 tbsp Italian seasoning (or 1 tsp each dried oregano, basil, thyme)
- 1 large onion
- 80g sun-dried tomatoes
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 400 ml chicken stock
- 1 tbsp tomato purée
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 90g parmesan
- 120 ml double cream
- Handful of spinach
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chilli flakes to garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Using 1 tbsp olive oil, fry the chicken until no longer pink and it is cooked through then set aside.
- Whilst your chicken is cooking, cook the pasta as it instructs you to on the packaging and then set aside.
- Finely chop sun-dried tomatoes and the onion. Add two tbsp of light olive oil to a frying pan over a medium heat, stirring regularly for 5 minutes or until the onion is soft and translucent.
- Add the chopped garlic to the pan and continue stirring for a further 1 minute. Stir in ground herbs and spices before adding the stock and tomato purée. Stir well. Reduce heat and allow to simmer for 8 minutes.
- If you’re planning on freezing this dish, I would recommend you skip step 7 and simply return to this step when you’re ready to serve up.
- Whisk in the cream to the sauce then stir in the parmesan. Add the lemon juice and continue to simmer for a further 2 minutes then return the chicken to the pan.
- Place a handful of spinach to the pan and allow for the spinach to reduce.
- Add the cooked pasta to the pan or serves separately at the table. Top with coriander and chilli flakes.
