About my classes

I offer a selection of classes aimed at teaching you the most popular recipes and techniques from my cookbooks. Classes are limited to a maximum of 4 people so that everyone has a chance to get in there and cook. I also offer private classes which can be tailored exactly to what you would like to learn. For more information about my private classes, please contact Caroline on 01642 782455 or email her at [email protected]

The classes are held in The Curry Cave! You might have seen it on YouTube. This is the converted garage where I do most of my work from developing recipes to writing. My home is just 2 miles from Yarm train station and we can recommend hotels and B&Bs that are close by. I can also arrange for you to be picked up and taken back to the train station if travelling by train

Gift certificates are available if you would like to purchase one of my classes as a gift

The Tandoor Experience

We start the classes by making two tandoori chicken marinades and naan dough. Then we’ll fire up the tandoor oven and you’ll get to cook the chicken tikka on skewers and slap naans to the sides of the oven. There are few things better than hot chicken tikka and naans straight from the oven so come hungry!

A lunch of tandoori chicken and naans will be served with salad and a selection or raitas and pickles.

After lunch, we will make a homemade garam masala, a base stock and two curry house style curries such as chicken tikka masala and jalfrezi.

You will take home takeaway containers of the curries, naans and base sauce that you make in the class.

South Indian Vegetarian Cooking

This is a class for those you love to snack on delicious food. We start the class by making a selection of chutneys. Then we’ll enjoy them with homemade vegetable samosa, and stuffed green chillies. Come hungry because after these delicious snacks, we will move on to dosas. You will not only learn how to make the dosa batter but also how to spread the batter onto a crepe machine to make perfect crispy dosas.

To finish, we will make two vegetarian curries and homemade puris. You will take home takeaway containers of the curries.
